San Jose man arrested on child pornography charges
The Milpitas and San Jose police departments teamed up this week to investigate and arrest a South Bay school teacher on child exploitation charges.
According to San Jose police, 50-year-old Johnny Urias, a former teacher at Will Rogers Elementary School in San Jose, has allegedly committed lewd acts with students. Urias was arrested by Milpitas police this week on charges of possession and manufacturing of child pornography.
In the interest of public safety, and the possibility that there may be unreported victims, the two police departments have been working closely with the elementary school to locate any victims of abuse.
Authorities say the case began in August 2011 when Milpitas police began investigating Urias for possession of child pornography. The months-long investigation ended on Wednesday with Urias’ arrest at his residence in the 1400 block of Merry Avenue.
San Jose police say they have no open cases involving Urias as a suspect, but detectives from the department’s Child Exploitation Detail will continue to work with Milpitas police, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, and Will Rogers elementary to ensure that any criminal cases that are identified involving Urias are investigated promptly and thoroughly.
