June 13 – Santa Barbara
In what could be described as “Chapter Two” of the story reported here on June 8th detailing the arrest of three men in a protracted series of events involving the illegal sexual contact and molestation of a 13-year-old Eastside Santa Barbara girl, the victim’s mother has now been arrested.
Pursuant to Santa Barbara Police Detectives’ ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading to the arrests of Martin Morales, 19, Jonathan Cisneros, 25, and David Hernandez-Alecio, 25 last week, detectives went to the victim’s home to question her about a reports of a possible fourth molestation. According to SBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Riley Harwood, “while approaching the house, detectives observed the 39-year-old mother of the victim—whose name is currently withheld for privacy concerns for the minor victim—dressed in a negligee while an unrelated adult male exited the residence.”
The man was detained and identified as Kevin Manzo. Upon questioning, Manzo admitted to having paid the mother for sexual contact.
When the mother saw the detectives approaching from the street, she quickly re-entered the residence and closed the door. “Officers had observed her dress and behavior on prior occasions”, Harwood reported, which led detectives to suspect her of prostitution.
Once inside the residence, detectives questioned the mother who denied performing sexual services, indicating that she was nothing more than a masseuse. “Preliminary investigation revealed an internet escort service offering listing her phone number,” Harwood said, which led to her arrest on charges of prostitution. Kevin Manzo, 24, was charged with a misdemeanor and released, while the mother was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on $2500 bail.
