EGPD Investigate Shooting
On June 21 at 11:14pm, the Elk Grove Police Department reportedly responded to the 7000 block of Verdure Way regarding a shooting, according to a press release issued by the EGPD. The caller indicated that her 18 year-old brother had been shot and was being transported to the hospital by her mother.
Officers repotedly responded to the hospital in an effort to gather additional information about the victim and upon arrival at the hospital, officers determined the victim had been shot in the stomach and forearm, and at the time the victim’s wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.
Officers were able to determine the shooting had taken place near the intersection of Springmont Drive and Plume Way. They reportedly responded to the area and discovered physical evidence related to the shooting, as well as a blood trail that led them to the victim’s residence on Verdure Way.
The EGPD believes the victim had been involved in a verbal argument with two or three African-American males prior to being shot, and after the shooting the suspects were seen leaving the area in a dark-colored four-door American made vehicle. At this time, detectives have not established a motive for the shooting.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call the EGPD Communication Center at 916-714-5115 or Crime Alert at 916-443-HELP (4357).
