Five Teenagers Arrested for Raping 14-year-old Girl
LEMOORE – Authorities have announced the arrest of five individuals who are suspected of raping an intoxicated 14-year-old girl earlier this month.
On July 11, the victim went willingly with the suspects to a party in the 500 block of Hanford-Armona Road in Lemoore. Authorities say she was friends with the suspects and knew that many of the guests at the party belonged to the Crips street gang.
During the party, the 14-year-old began drinking of her own accord and continued to drink until she passed out, police said. That’s when the five suspects forced themselves on her and had sex with her. Police say that no one stepped in to help the girl. The victim admitted herself to Adventist Medical Center after the incident to be treated for the assault.
Police have been able to identify and arrest five suspects in connection to the crime.
“Four juveniles and one adult had committed rape of an intoxicated person for the benefit of a criminal street gang,” said Sarah Hacker, Kings County Deputy District Attorney.
The adult, and only suspect who has been identified, is 18-year-old Harvey Scott. Two of the minor suspects were 16 and the other two were 14 years old.
So far, all five suspects are being charged with rape by intoxication and enhancements for participating in a criminal street gang. They may face additional charges in the coming days. All four of the underage teens are being charged as adults because of their suspected gang association.
