Paso police respond to shots-fired call

Paso Robles Police are investigating a shots-fired call that happened on Friday, July 27 around 3:30 p.m.

According to PRPD, officers responded to the area of 34th and Spring streets for the report of multiple gunshots heard. Officers arrived a few minutes later and learned the persons responsible for the shooting had already left the scene.

J n J's Liquor and Food Mart was the scene of the shooting

Police say a single juvenile witness stated a Hispanic male adult fired multiple shots in the air from a rifle or shotgun while standing in the parking lot of J n J’s Liquor at the corner of 34th and Spring streets. The witness told police that after shooting the firearm, the shooter got into a vehicle driven by another suspect which quickly left the scene. The vehicle is described as a white passenger car similar to a Ford Contour.

Investigators said they discovered several bullet holes in side of the liquor store wall, but no one is known to be injured from the shooting. Police say video surveillance of the parking lot from the store cameras did not show the shooting, but did show images of the suspect vehicle.

According to investigators, based on the video images and the bullet holes in the building, they believe another unrelated suspect may have shot at the vehicle or suspects in the parking lot.

Investigators from PRPD along with the California Highway Patrol Helicopter searched the area, but did not locate the persons responsible for the shooting. Emergency services assisted by treating the juvenile witness, who fell while running from the scene and sustained minor injuries.

Police say it is unknown at this time if this incident is gang related. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call PRPD at 237-6464.
