Santa Barbara County – The streets of downtown Santa Maria were a busy place in the early morning hours of August 8th, as a 911 Emergency call coming into to Santa Maria Police Department Dispatch alerted authorities to a vehicle burglary in progress. According to SMPD spokesman Lt. Rico Flores, “three individuals were reported, including a female” as breaking into a sedan in the downtown area.
Patrol units responded promptly and “officers observed three suspects running from the area,” Flores reported. Two of the suspects were immediately detained while the third made good his escape from pursuing officers. Pursuant to field investigation, Eli Moises Aguilar, 19, and a juvenile female were arrested at the scene.
The juvenile female was booked into Santa Maria Juvenile Hall on charges of vehicle burglary while Moises, a resident of Santa Maria, was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for auto burglary with an additional charge of resisting arrest.
