Two Men Walk Off With Donation Jar
CORRALITOS—Authorities with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department are looking for two Hispanic males after they stole a donation jar from the Four Corners Market in Corralitos on Friday afternoon.
Suspect #1 in Donation jar theft
The two men walked into the market and stole the donation jar that contained approximately $300 dollars. The donation jar collected money for Gwen Davies Horsemanship Ranch on Sans Road in Watsonville.
Girl’s ages 14-17 work at the ranch that rescues Arabian Horses and rehabs them to the point where the horses are able to compete. Members of the Gwen Davis Horsemanship Ranch will be traveling to compete in the Nationals in Idaho later this month and the donations were to be used for food, gas and lodging.
The Sheriff Department began investigating on Friday, reviewing surveillance video from the market. The first suspect in this case is a Hispanic male wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up over his head. Suspect number two in this case is a Hispanic male wearing blue jeans, a grey hooded sweatshirt and a black jack over the sweatshirt.
Suspect #2 in Donation Jar Theft
“You should never steal from kids and especially these kids. They work so hard to rehab these horses and without that money they cannot afford to go to the competition,” Santa Cruz County Sheriff Deputy April Skalland said, adding, “I am sad to say we have no further leads at this time.”
The Santa Cruz County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Posse have donated a total of $600 dollars to help the girls achieve their goal of $5000 dollars. If you would like to donate to help the girls go to the competition you can make a donation at gofundme.com
