Sometimes a guy just needs to realize that when a woman says “no”, she means just that.
In the early afternoon of August 12th, Francisco Godines Alcoser, a 48-year-old Santa Barbara resident was hosting a visit from a longtime platonic female friend after his invitation for her to join him at his place for a social libation.
According to Sgt. Riley Harwood, Santa Barbara Police Department Public Information Officer, “one thing apparently led to another” and Alcoser made sexual advances toward his guest “which she rebuffed.” At some point in his amorous outreach, Alcoser is reported to have “forcefully attacked the victim, restraining her, attempting to sexually assault her, and preventing her from leaving his residence,” as Harwood detailed in his report to the media.
The alleged victim effectively fought off the violent advances of Alcoser and fled the premises, whereupon she promptly called 911 Emergency to report the assault. When responding officers contacted the 33-year-old victim, they noted her injuries consistent with defense against a personal physical attack. Immediately investigating the circumstances, officers quickly located Alcoser on the sidewalk some distance from his apartment and placed him under arrest.
Alcoser was transported to Santa Barbara Police Headquarters where he was questioned by Detective Charlie Katsapis, a specialist in Crimes Against Persons. Subsequent to that interview, during which Alcoser admitted the physical altercation but denied any sexual attack, he was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of assault with intent to commit rape and false imprisonment, with bail set at $100,000.
