Benicia man arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, possession of controlled substance
Benicia police officers arrested a man early Tuesday morning, after receiving information that he was in possession of illegal drugs.
According to the Vallejo Times Herald, police officers went to the apartment of Brandon Sanborn, 32, on the 400 block of East L Street at about 12:30 a.m. When the officers arrived they saw Sanborn outside, but he allegedly ran into his apartment after officers identified themselves as they approached.
The officers kicked in the door to gain access to the access to the apartment. Once inside officers found that Sanborn’s two children, a 2 and a 4-year-old, were sleeping on the couch. Officers also found 12 grams of marijuana, a bag of 24 grams of crystal methamphetamine, two digital scales, and $494.
According to the Vallejo Times Herald, Sanborn was arrested and booked into Solano County jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale, possessing marijuana for sale, resisting a police officer, child endangerment and a probation violation. At the time of his arrest, Sanborn was on felony probation for domestic violence, and had two felony warrants out for his arrest for domestic violence and possessing a controlled substance, police said.
It was unclear if Sanborn had legal custody of the children at the time of the arrest. After Sanborn’s arrest, the children were released to the care of their grandparents.
