One arrested, two sought in Madera drive by shooting
Madera County has its fair share of crime and one victim was shot late Monday night. One suspect in the drive by shooting was arrested, but Madera Sheriff’s deputies said that two accomplices were still on the loose.
Jaime Agustin Garcia was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. According to deputies, 20-years-old Garcia is a known gang associate. Deputies are not releasing the name of the victim but he is still hospitalized today. Erica Stuart, Madera County sheriff’s spokeswoman did not know the actual condition of the man.
According to sheriff’s reports written by deputy Richard Gonzales, he was on patrol near Ellis Street and Road 27 when he heard shots fired and then spotted a car with three suspects in it leaving the scene. Gonzalez followed the trio and saw one of the passengers toss a gun through the window. The weapon was recovered and the driver (identified as Garcia) was later apprehended and booked into Madera County Jail.
Stuart said Sheriff John Anderson is asking the public for help in finding the two other suspects involved in this case. Anyone who may have information about Monday night’s drive-by shooting near Ellis Street and Road 27 shortly after 11 p.m. is asked to call either the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770, or CRIME STOPPERS at 498-STOP.
