Paso Robles police officers took a Morro Bay woman into custody after a brief chase on Wednesday about 1:58 p.m.
According to PRPD, they received a report of a driver possibly driving under the influence, traveling west on State Road East near Golden Hill Road.
Police say callers described the vehicle as a gold Chevrolet Suburban. One of their patrol officers located the suspected vehicle as it entered southbound US 101 from SR 46 E.
The patrol officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. However, the driver failed to yield to the officer’s red lights and siren. The vehicle continued south on US 101, at approximately 60 MPH, then exited to S.R. 46 W where it continued west on S.R. 46 W.
According to PRPD, two of their patrol cars followed with lights and sirens. After passing Theater drive, the driver pulled to the right and stopped. The driver, Joyce Ann Thornton, 57, of Morro Bay was taken into custody without incident.
Thornton was held at the Paso Robles Police Department for misdemeanor counts of drunk driving and evading police. Thornton was held by police until sober and then released on a promise to appear in court.
