Santa Barbara County – Emanuel Esquivias, 18, was arrested on charges of residential burglary, attempted rape, attempted child molestation, and attempted lewd acts with children under 14 years of age and under duress pursuant to a 911 Emergency call to a Santa Maria home on September 13th.
According to Santa Maria Police Department spokesman Lt. Dan Ast, Esquivias had entered his neighbor’s house at approximately 9:30 p.m. and entered a bedroom occupied by two female children in the residence. “He closed the door behind him,” Ast reported to the media, “and demanded oral copulation,” at which time he began to disrobe.
The two minor children reportedly began screaming for help and throwing personal items including toys and books at Esquivias. Alerted by the commotion, the father of the girls, ages 10 and 12, promptly confronted Esquivias and ejected him from the home.
Responding SMPD officers located Esquivias on the public sidewalk outside the girls’ residence and conducted a field interrogation which led to his arrest at the scene. Subsequent investigation, according to Lt. Ast, indicated that Esquivias had intent to rape the children if they did not cooperate with his earlier demand for oral copulation.
Esquivias was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail with bail posted at $250,000.
