Two Vallejo men arrested in connection with suspect vehicle chase
Two Vallejo men were arrested Wednesday morning after a traffic stop led to a police pursuit.
According to the Vallejo Times Herald, an officer attempted to stop a man driving at about 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday for a “minor vehicle code violation” but the driver failed to yield and instead led the officer on a pursuit.
The suspect, later identified as Roman Francisco Barrozo, III, 31, reportedly drove the vehicle over a bridge crossing the Mare Island Strait and tried to throw a shotgun out of the passenger side window. The firearm was later recovered by deputies.
During the pursuit Barrozo also allegedly hit a police car when his path was restricted by a civilian’s vehicle. According to the Vallejo Times Herald, law enforcement lost Barrozo’s car during the pursuit while he was driving on Interstate-80 near the Tennessee Street off-ramp. Two Vallejo officers who were involved in the pursuit, however, were able to positively identify Barrozo.
Officers went to Barrozo’s home in the 100 block of Edgemont Street where Barrozo and his roommate, Lance Thompson, 28, were arrested.
Barrozo and Thompson were booked at Solano County jail. Borrozo was charged with felony evading a police vehicle, hit and run felony, removing a serial number from a firearm, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of large capacity magazines, possession of brass knuckles, and resisting a peace officer in the performance of his/her duty. Thompson was charged with violation of probation, possession of high capacity magazines, and being a felon in the possession of ammunition.
