Former KCHS Star Athlete Busted for Drugs

Deputies from the Monterey Co. Sheriff’s Office arrested a 6′ 4″ tall, 205-pound Santa Maria man in a white 1989 Ford pick-up truck at 50500 Jolon Road in King City Friday night at about 10:30.
According to the Sheriff’s report, deputies allege that 18 year old Ralph Rianda was found to be in possession of a large quantity of marijuana and paraphernalia associated with the sale of narcotics. The Sheriff’s department said their investigation revealed that Rianda, who was accompanied by two male juveniles at the time of the incident, was transporting marijuana with the intent to sell. Rianda was booked into Monterey County Jail shortly following his arrest.

Ralph Rianda

Rianda was a stand-out star at King City High School in both basketball and football. He reportedly now lives in Santa Maria, said deputies. A former King City resident, Rianda’s name was well known as last year he was All-league in both football and basketball. He graduated from King City High School last spring.

According to the Allen Hancock college website, Rianda is listed on the football roster as a tight end. He is studying sports medicine and is in his freshman year of college. Monterey County Sheriff deputy Steve Bernal said it is always difficult to make an arrest when you recognize a young adult that you are apprehending involved in a crime, but they too are responsible for their actions.
