SLO Cops Capture Slow Car Thief
A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Sunday after police caught him with stolen goods.
According to SLOPD, officers were dispatched to the area of Kentucky and Fredericks streets regarding the report of two male subjects looking into parked cars around 3 a.m.
Police say once officers arrived at the scene, one of the officers located two males who matched the description provided by the caller.
As the officer exited his patrol car he walked toward the two male subjects. Once the subjects saw the officer they dropped property they were holding in their hands and ran away.
The officer said he gave chase and was able to catch one of the subjects after a short foot pursuit. The captured suspect was identified as Luis Javier Martin, 18, of San Luis Obispo.
Police say an investigation revealed that property collected at the scene and on the suspect was stolen property from parked vehicles.
The other male who fled was not captured; however, police are continuing to investigate to determine this suspect’s identity.
Martin was transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail where he was booked for possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
