Two Drug Busts Net Four Arrests
MENDOCINO – On Thursday night Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies observed and subsequently contacted the occupants of a parked car located at a closed business. They detected an odor of marijuana and subsequently took into custody Buck Smith and Joshua Hilliard.
Smith had a $350,000 felony bail fugitive of justice warrant from Oregon and was taken into custody. A further search of the vehicle produced substance pharmaceuticals and drug paraphernalia. Hilliard was arrested for illegal possession of drugs. He was also evaluated to be under the influence of illicit drugs.
Late Saturday night police conducted a traffic stop for traffic violations. Eric Tysick, the driver of the vehicle, admitted to driving with a suspended license. A search of his person also revealed a set of metal knuckles and a spring-loaded knife. An inspection of the car produced a loaded semi-automatic pistol, marijuana, heroin, and methadone, as well as drug-smoking paraphernalia.
Both Tysick and his passenger, Zachary Henderson, were under the influence of drugs and taken to the Mendocino County Jail for that and the other listed violations. Police also discovered that Tysick is a convicted felon form Arizona. Bail was set at $25,000.
Ukiah officer Marsolan and his K9 partner Daisy, who specializes in drug detection, assisted in the arrest.
