$100K Bail for Not Taking “No” for an Answer
Santa Barbara – Facing multiple charges stemming from a domestic violence incident, Nicholas Allen Enns, 34, has been booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on $100,000 bail, according to Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman Sgt. Riley Harwood, pursuant to some dangerously persistent boyfriend-girlfriend behavior just after midnight on October 19th.
As detailed in Harwood’s report to the media, Enns showed up on the front porch of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment residence and was refused admittance by her “because he was drunk.” When she locked her front door to prevent his entry, Enns is reported to have loudly expressed his anger and then attempted to climb into the home via a bedroom window. When the ex-girlfriend confronted him, he allegedly overpowered her and ultimately succeeded in gaining entry, then seized her miniature pinscher dog and exited the apartment holding the dog and threatening to break its neck.
According to Harwood, “the victim pleaded with the suspect” for the safety of her pet, whereupon Enns seized from her the cellphone with which she had just called 911 Emergency to report the altercation. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 12:30 a.m., SBPD Officers Denbrook and Maudlin arrived on the scene, at which time Enns summarily released the min-pin from his clutches and unsuccessfully attempted to remove himself from the premises by fleeing on foot.
Ofcrs Denbrook and Maudlin ran Enns down and quickly persuaded him to return to the scene. Once in the company of the uniformed officers, Enns explained that he only attempted to flee, according to Harwood, “because he knew he was in trouble,” and truly had no intention of hurting the small dog.
With his credibility in serious doubt, Enns was taken into custody and booked on charges of witness intimidation by threat or force, burglary, and resisting an officer.
