Carjacking and Two Assaulted
ANTIOCH – Two women were assaulted and carjacked while leaving a local restaurant last Tuesday, October 16th. The two victims were leaving the restaurant when they were attacked by a man and woman in the parking lot. After that assault, which resulted in non-life threatening injuries, the assailant stole the victims’ keys and took their vehicle.
After receiving a report of an accident on Contra Loma Blvd. Isidro Gali, 41 was arrested as a suspect in the assault and carjacking, according to Sergant Steve Bias of the Antioch Police Department.
“Approximately an hour later a citizen notified Antioch Police Department that a vehicle matching the victim vehicle was involved in a solo accident on Contra Loma Blvd. After the collision the driver was seen getting into a separate vehicle and fleeing the scene,” Bias stated in a press release.
The second vehicle was found by Pittsburg Police officers, and after a brief pursuit, the driver lost control and crashed into a street sign at the East Leland and Loveridge Rd. A passenger in that vehicle, Gali was arrested and is the currently only suspect arrested in the carjacking.
According to Antioch Police the other individual involved as the driver of that vehicle is being handled by Pittsburg Police. Gali was booked into the Martinez detention facility on charges of carjacking and possession of stolen property.
