Two Suspects Arrested in Homicide
ANTIOCH – Two local residents, Sean Brown, 45, and Sonya Joseph, 41, were arrested for the murder of a 26 year old King Gregory Carroll. The victim was found stabbed to death on the 2200 block of Manzanita Wy. at 12:44 p.m. on October 20th.
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s office was unable to determine the victim’s exact time of death. It is believed the homicide took place late night Friday October 19th, or early Saturday. According to Acting Sergeant Santiago Castillo, officers responded to an anonymous tip arrested Brown and Joseph on that Monday and arrested Brown and Joseph without incident. Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges on the pair on Wednesday October 24th.
Antioch Police Investigators believed the killing of Carroll was in retaliation for a fight earlier this month between Carroll and Brown in which Carroll won.
“Since then, Brown and Joseph dwelled over the loss of the fight and actively pursued retaliation,” Castillo stated.
Joseph and Brown found Carroll at the home on Manzanita Way where a retaliation fight progressed, and resulted in a homicide. Brown stabbed Carroll numerous times with a large knife. When Brown and Joseph were arrested, they were found to be in possession of evidence linking both of them to the crime, which included a large knife that is believed to have been used in the killing.
