SANTA MARIA – Police are searching for an unidentified man who allegedly shot another man on West Cypress on Thanksgiving Day.
Officers were dispatched to Marian Medical Center just after midnight on Thanksgiving for a report of a gunshot victim who arrived at the hospital by a private vehicle with a wound to his upper torso.
According to police, the victim provided very little information to investigators about the alleged shooting that occurred while he was walking to his home in the 600 block of W. Cypress.
The victim was able to tell investigators that while walking to his residence a white, four-door Acura pulled up beside him and someone in the front passenger’s seat of the vehicle fired a single shot at him, striking him in the upper torso, police said.
The gunshot wound wasn’t life threatening and the victim was treated and released from the hospital.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the department at 928-3781. Anonymous tips can also be made by calling CrimeStoppers at 1-877-800-9100.
