Three Suspects Arrested for Armed Robbery Spree in Valley, Northern California
FRESNO – Three gang members were arrested for robbing several Central Valley businesses as well as stores in Northern California.
Rozelle Summerise, 37, Darrell Johnson, 38, and Jules Hollis, 42, are responsible for seven armed robberies in Fresno and Madera, and are suspects in the robberies of high-end stores near Sacramento and the Bay Area, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said.
Dyer called the men “home grown Fresno criminals” and said “it’s good to see them off the streets.”
The string of robberies in Fresno spanned more than three weeks from late October through the most recent on Nov. 19. The first crime happened on Oct. 26 when one of the suspects robbed a CVS. Other stores targeted in the Central Valley by the suspects included Check ‘n Go lending stores, a Foods Co market, two motels and a mini-mart, for a total of seven stores. In each of these cases, the suspects took off with cash.
In Northern California, a Nordstrom department store, a Louis Vuitton store and a Burberry Factory Outlet were robbed. More than $100,000 worth of goods were stolen. Neither the goods nor the cash from all of the robberies have been recovered.
Dyer said the suspects used nylon masks as well as wigs, caps and glasses to disguise themselves during the robberies.
On Nov. 9, police found a car used in the crimes as well as some of the clothes worn by the suspects. They then identified Summerise and were able to arrest him in Vallejo. When they served a search warrant at an apartment he had stayed at in Fresno, they discovered a wig, cap and a .38-caliber handgun, Dyer said.
Authorities believe Summerise, a gang member with an extensive criminal history, was the mastermind behind the robberies.
Hollis was arrested in Northern California and Johnson was taken into custody yesterday. Multiple counties will be involved in the prosecution of the three suspects, Dyer said.
