Paso Police Pursue Parolee
A parolee-at-large is in custody after he led Paso Robles police on a brief chase.
According to Paso Robles Police Department press release, they were contacted by the state parole office on Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. for assistance in apprehending a wanted parolee near the intersection of Capital Hill and Creston Road.
Police say as officers arrived, the parolee drove away in a vehicle eastbound on Creston Road.
Officers tried to stop the driver of the vehicle, but the parolee drove away and failed to yield to police lights and siren.
The parolee was identified as Gabriel Garcia, 40.
Police say Garcia put the public at danger by running several stop signs and red lights in order to flee the area.
A short time later, Garcia disabled his vehicle near the entrance to Spanish Lakes housing development and tried to run from the scene.
Garcia was quickly taken into custody for his parole warrant and will also be charged with possession of illegal narcotics and evading arrest.
