Salinas Police Looking for Homicide Suspect
Suspect: Armed and Dangerous
SALINAS—Twas the night before Christmas and most families were getting together to celebrate the pending arrival of jolly old Saint Nick. However, for one family in Salinas the night would end in tragedy.
On Monday December 24, Salinas Police Officers responded to an incident on the 1200 block of Second Avenue. Upon their arrival they found Salvador Garcia, 30, of Salinas lying unconscious on the driveway at the rear of the residence. Garcia was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, Garcia confronted his brother-in-law Francisco Navarro, 34, also of Salinas over a previous family dispute. The two had a brief argument in the driveway of Navarro’s residence. It’s during that time that Navarro pulled out a handgun and shot Garcia once in the upper torso.
Navarro fled the scene in a custom orange-painted 2002 Chevrolet Silverado truck license plate number 8A21273. The Salinas Police are still actively searching for Navarro, who whereabouts are unknown at this time.
“This appears to be a family tragedy, but the investigation is still in its infancy.” Salinas Police Detective David Poulin said, “ We are getting a lot of help from the citizens, it appears that they are paying attention our bulletins.”
Police consider Navarro to be armed in dangerous. Navarro does have family In Mexico and they have been contacted.
