Love triangle shooting results in arrest of ex-husband
Valentine’s Day is over a month away, but that didn’t stop a Glendale man from letting his passions run high. 48-year-old Ira Geragos was arrested for attempted murder January 7th after he shot the current boyfriend of his ex-wife.
According to a press release by the Glendale Police Department, authorities were first notified at 1:23 AM when a 911 call reported a shooting in the area of 125 East Glenoaks Boulevard. Upon arriving, officers found a 48-year-old male victim suffering from four gunshot wounds. The victim identified Geragos and his vehicle to police on the scene, and the officers broadcast those descriptions to other Glendale Police units.
Officers later spotted Geragos driving in the West Glendale area and began pursuit. During the chase, Geragos attempted to ram the pursuing police vehicles before crashing his car into a tree located on the 100 block of Rosedale Avenue. After Geragos was arrested, officers recovered two handguns and ammunition.
Detectives’ initial investigation revealed that Geragos targeted the victim for his romantic relationship with Gergaos’ ex-wife. Geragos was booked at the Glendale City Jail for attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon due to his attempt to ram his vehicle into police cars during the pursuit. Geragos’ bail has been set at $1 million and will be arraigned at the Glendale Superior Court on January 9th.
The Los Angeles Times has identified the victim as Aram Akopyan, an acupuncturist who operates a health and spiritual living office.
