Sex Offender Arrested with Child Porn on Smart Phone
Paso Robles police have arrested a transient sex offender for allegedly having child pornography on his smart phone.
According to PRPD, officers received information regarding a registered sex offender who was possibly in violation of the terms of his probation on Thursday around 10:40 p.m.
Police identified the subject as transient Robert McGuire, 37.
Police say McGuire is known to officers due to his status as a registered sex offender and officers say they were also aware that McGuire was on probation for possession of child pornography.
According to McGuire’s probation he is prohibited from possessing any computers or ‘smartphone’ devices.
Officers say they located McGuire in the Salinas riverbed area near the 100 block of Niblick Road.
During a probation search of McGuire and his property, he was found to be in possession of a smartphone.
McGuire was arrested without incident for this probation violation, and during a search of the photographic images on the smartphone, suspected child pornography was discovered.
McGuire was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for possession of child pornography and violating his probation.
