SANTA MARIA – Police arrested a man Tuesday on suspicion of stalking and making threats in connection with an incident reported to authorities the previous day.
Arthur Dewain Brown was taken into custody and booked at Santa Barbara County Jail, where he remains in custody for allegedly stalking the victim and making threats against the individual, whose name police aren’t releasing.
On Monday evening just before 7:30 p.m., Santa Maria police received a call about a man with a gun in the 100 block of West Main Street, but when officers arrived the subject had already fled the area, according to police.
An investigation into the incident led officers to identify Brown as the alleged suspect in the case. He was arrested without incident on Tuesday.
Police said that Brown had been previously arrested for physically assaulting the victim and was released from custody on bail when the alleged stalking incident occurred.
