3 runaway juveniles in violent robbery, 2 arrested, one at large
Vacaville – Two juveniles have been arrested related to a robbery and assault that took place Tuesday in Andrews Park. A third suspect, estimated to be between 16 and 18 years of age, is still at large. He is described as Hispanic and was last seen running northbound on Markham Avenue on Tuesday evening shortly after 7:53 p.m. At that time he was wearing a dark sweatshirt with a hood and a white beanie cap.
The incident began with two adult males being approached by the suspects, one of whom asked a question. Before the men could respond, the suspects began assaulting them. The victims’ bicycles, a cell phone and a watch were stolen.
Officers responded to the incident and located three young men fitting the attackers’ descriptions in front of the Lucky grocery on E. Monte Vista Avenue. The three took off on foot, pursued by officers who immediately captured one of them. A second suspect was captured shortly thereafter as he left a store carrying an 18-pack of beer, which officers determined was stolen. One of the stolen bikes was then located near the Georgie Duke Sports Center, alongside more stolen beer.
The victims identified the two juveniles captured by police as their attackers, and one of the suspects had the stolen cell phone in his possession. Both suspects were intoxicated, had outstanding warrants for their arrest, were on probation and reported as runaways. They added to their arrest record on Tuesday with charges for, among other things, strong armed robbery, commercial burglary and probation violation. They were booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall.
Anyone with information regarding the incident in Andrews Park or the whereabouts of the third suspect is urged to contact Vacaville police at (707) 449-5200.
