Tulare County Sheriff's Investigating Two Separate Homicides
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department is investigating homicides that happened in Porterville and Pixley within the last week.
At 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 19, California Highway Patrol officers performed a traffic stop and discovered two gunshot victims in the car. The victim in the driver’s seat, identified as 34-year-old Osevio Anguiano Lopez from Porterville, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The passenger in the vehicle had a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Deputies and medical personnel were called to the scene. The victim with the head wound was taken by helicopter to the hospital, where he later died. The second victim, a Hispanic male in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he was treated and released.
The victims were in the area of the when someone fired at the victims while they were in their vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department. The case remains under investigation.
Around 3 p.m. on Jan. 24, a homicide was reported in Pixley. Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to the scene in the 600 block of South Main and found a Hispanic adult male deceased just off the roadway near the northeast corner of Main and Compton.
Detectives with the Violent Crimes and Forensic Investigations Units learned that the victim was standing on the property when he and someone seated in a vehicle began to verbally fight. Someone in the vehicle fired shots and then fled the scene. Detectives are still investigating the case.
