No Answers for Double Homicide in Nuevo
NUEVO – Two women were discovered with fatal injuries alongside a rural street in Nuevo.
On February 4, at about 5:08 PM the Riverside County Sheriff’s office received a call regarding two injured women in the roadway. Deputies from the Hemet Station were dispatched to the 29000 block of Central Avenue in the unincorporated area of Riverside County known as Nuevo, which is just south of Perris. Upon arrival at approximately 5:18 PM, the deputies discovered two Hispanic female adults. Both women had sustained obvious and traumatic injuries.
Cal Fire Personnel arrived and pronounced Connie Gonzalez, a 25-year-old Nuevo resident, deceased at the scene. The second victim, Maria Gonzalez, a 51-year-old Nuevo resident, was immediately transported to Menifee Valley Medical Center. There she succumbed to her injuries within an hour. According to the Press Enterprise, a man at the scene stated the women were his mother and sister.
Witnesses to the crime reported a suspect leaving the area. Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Central Homicide Unit were called to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Together with Deputies from the Hemet station, Investigators searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect in question. Witnesses described the suspect as a Hispanic male adult, 18 to 20 years old wearing dark clothing. Investigators are still seeking the suspect at this time.
The Sheriff’s Department noted in a statement that this is an active and ongoing homicide investigation and no further details are going to be released at this time.
