Gang Member Assaults Ex-Girlfriend after Two Weeks of Stalking
Although March 8 is considered International Women’s Day, Jeremiah Allen Jones of Redding had his own unlawful way of celebrating it.
According to the Redding Police Department, they responded to a report of an assault at the Americana Lodge Hotel on Friday evening. The witnesses reported that a male was trying to hit a woman with a baseball bat.
It did not take them long to locate 34-year-old Jeremiah Jones, who was identified as the suspect, near the hotel. Further investigation of the case revealed that he has been stalking the victim, who was his former girlfriend, at the hotel for the past two weeks. Moreover, he had threatened and assaulted the victim earlier that week in addition to breaking into her hotel room and robbing her of her cell phone and wallet.
The day of the incident, Jones confronted the victim at the parking lot and struck her in the face multiple times. The victim tried defending herself with a baseball bat, but Jones was able to overpower her and got hold of the bat. He then tried using it in an attempt to strike the victim.
Besides the assault, Jones was also wanted for a violation of his release terms out of Riverside County. He was detained and taken for a ride to the Shasta County Jail. According to the police, while being transported, Jones repeatedly threatened the life of the arresting officer. He is currently being held with no bail for an assault with a deadly weapon, threatening a peace officer, robbery, criminal threats, misdemeanor child abuse, and an outstanding warrant.
