Angelo Moreno, who died Friday in an officer-involved shooting after a pursuit, pulled up a shiny metal object from his truck and “held it as if it were a firearm,” according to a statement Tuesday by Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

Moreno, said by police to be a homeless man from the Vallejo and Martinez areas, is suspected of stealing the truck that he drove in the incident.
