Redlands Police Waiting For Burglary Suspect
REDLANDS – Police were waiting for a burglary suspect as he came out of the back yard of a victim’s residence early Sunday night. It was one of three burglaries that took place that day.
David Everett Redmond, a 59-year-old parolee from Redlands, had a loaded gun that police located in a backpack in the garage, along with several other firearms. Police also found property from the residence on the 1400 block of East Brockton Ave. in Redmond’s possession. He was not connected to the other burglaries reported on Sunday.
A neighbor had reported suspicious activity and called police just before 6 p.m. Police said the witness reported the suspect carrying a backpack and entering the neighbor’s back yard while the residents were away. Redlands police spokesman Carl Baker said officers arrived and set up a perimeter around the home, detaining Redmond as he came out of the back yard.
Two other weekend burglaries, including one at the 10 block of Beattie Lane and another on the 700 block of West Brockton Ave., took place. At Beattie Lane, someone forced entry through a rear door and stole home electronics, jewelry and cash, said Baker. One of the victims’ cars was also ransacked while parked in the garage. At West Brockton Ave., suspects entered through a rear window and stole home electronics, jewelry and cash. Baker said investigators have not determined if the burglaries are related, saying that Redmond has not been connected to either of the crimes.
Redmond was arrested for burglary for the East Brockton crime and was additionally charged with felony possession of a firearm. He was taken to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga where his bail was set at $500,000. Redmond was convicted of felony burglary in September 2010.
