Santa Maria Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges in Maryland

SANTA MARIA –  A 21-year-old city resident is awaiting extradition to Baltimore, Md., where he faces charges of attempted murder for an alleged crime committed in that city earlier this year.

According to law enforcement, Santa Maria police detectives received information Thursday from the Baltimore Police Department that Jose Rodriguez, 21, had been identified as a suspect in an attempted homicide that occurred in their jurisdiction in February.

Santa Maria police were provided information from law enforcement in Baltimore of possible locations in the city where Rodriguez frequented, and a search for the suspect ensued. Detectives located the man working in an area near Donovan and Blosser at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, police said.

Rodriquez was taken into custody at that time and booked at Santa Barbara County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
