Vacaville K9 aids in another arrest
VACAVILLE – At approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, a hit-and-run accident involving a Honda sedan and Toyota pick-up occurred at the intersection of Alamo Drive and Peabody Road. The pick-up driver was injured, the driver and passenger of the Honda fled the scene. Witnesses called police and a search began for the occupants of the Honda, who were described as an Indian male and a Hispanic male.
Not far from the accident another witness informed police he had seen a man who seemed to have been hiding while officers were searching the area. K9 Kamos picked up the man’s scent, followed it over a fence into an apartment complex and then to an enclosed patio.
The search for the other Honda occupant also concluded successfully. He was identified as Ronald Newhauser, 50, of Vacaville. Subsequent accident investigation revealed Newhauser to be the driver of the Honda, and a search of the Honda turned up 4 ounces of marijuana.
Police further determined that Tringali was on parole and Newhauser had been released to Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS), which was a replacement for serving time for a felony conviction. Newhauser was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run, driving without a license, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and violation of PRCS terms. Tringali was arrested for prowling, and both were booked into Solano County Jail.
Anyone with information about this accident is asked to call Vacaville police at (707) 449-5200.
