Pepper-Sprayed JCPenney Guard Runs From Pleasanton to Dublin to Catch Two Shoplifters

A Stoneridge mall security guard ran more than two miles, from Pleasanton to Dublin, to catch two shoplifters who police said swiped $120 of goods Friday evening from JCPenney.

The suspects, two Richmond women, reportedly pepper-sprayed the store security guard and then ran off, but the guard wasn’t about to let them get away.

He ran after them, crossing over an Interstate 580 overpass and down to Dublin Boulevard, eventually ending up at Safeway, where they locked themselves in an employee restroom.

Kinasha Brown, 18 and Corrin Ray, 21, were arrested on suspicion of felony robbery at 7:22 p.m. at the store by the Pleasanton Police Department.
