Young man stabs woman's roommate
SANTA ANA – Santa Ana homicide unit detectives have arrested 22-year-old Jacob Davis of Santa Ana for attempted murder.
At 11:30 Tuesday night, officers responded to an apartment on the 600 block of West 3rd Street on reports of a stabbing. According to a Santa Ana Police press release, the officers found the victim, a Hispanic man in his 20’s with multiple stab wounds to his upper torso. The victim is a resident of the apartment, which he shares with two women.
Witnesses reported that a white man, also in his 20’s, had entered the apartment trying to contact one of the women who lives there. He appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” and was frightening the woman. Her roommate, the victim, tried to intervene when the intruder, Davis, grabbed a knife and stabbed the would-be protector, and then fled on foot. Davis’s home address is listed as the same apartment complex, but it is not clear at this time if he was also a roommate of the victim or the woman he was trying to contact.
The victim, who may have saved the life of his roommate, was sent to Western Medical Center in critical condition. Meanwhile, detectives located the suspect, Davis, in Orange. He was interviewed and then booked into the Santa Ana jail on charges of attempted murder. His bail was set at $500,000.
