Santa Barbara County – City of Santa Barbara residents Ramon Garcia, Jr., 28, and Veronica Sanchez, 30, were arrested this week on three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon following a month-long investigation into events that took place on March 31, 2013, at a Lompoc area Jack In The Box restaurant.
According to Lompoc Police Department spokesman Sgt. Chuck Strange, Garcia and Sanchez were identified by witnesses as having participated in an altercation that had citizens calling 911 Emergency to report an attack by two adults upon a trio of juveniles. Upon arrival at the scene, Sanchez reported that “officers checked the area on arrival but were unable to locate any subjects involved in the disturbance.”
Investigation and witness statements, however, indicated that “two male juveniles and one female juvenile were assaulted by an adult male,” Strange said in his statement to the media, adding that the male suspect used a stick akin to a broom handle in battering the victims. The ongoing investigation into the incident eventually led authorities to identify Garcia and Sanchez as the likely perpetrators, and both were taken into custody in Santa Barbara pursuant to arrest warrants, whereupon they were booked into Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
