SANTA MARIA – Two men were arrested early Friday morning after police allegedly discovered illicit drugs in a vehicle blocking an alley in the area of Boone and Depot.
Just before 1 a.m. on May 3, a lone police officer was on patrol in the area when he noticed a vehicle blocking the alleyway. As he approached the car, one of the four occupants fled on foot, according to police.
The officer detained three men at the scene and discovered more than 17 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sale in the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of two of the men.
Santa Maria residents Franciso Rojas, 22, and Justino Ramos, 21, were arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale. Both men were booked at Santa Barbara County Jail, where their bail was set at $30,000 and $10,000, respectively, police said.
The third man at the scene was not taken into custody and the individual that fled when police arrived remains at large.
