SANTA MARIA – More than two years after a shooting in the 500 block of North Mary, a man has been arrested for attempted murder in connection with the incident, police said.
Police have identified 21-year-old Franky Hernandez, of Santa Maria, as the man who allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim during the October 2010 shooting, which authorities believe was gang related. Hernandez is a documented gang member.
Hernandez was in custody on unrelated charges when gang detectives with the Santa Maria Police Department identified him earlier this week as the alleged shooter. He was re-booked at Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, according to police.
The unidentified victim wasn’t injured during the shooting.
