Sac Sheriff Makes Two Arrests in Failed Murder Plot
Detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department have arrested two people in connection with a plot to have a woman killed, according to an official press release.
Manuel Perez, 47, and his sister Natalia Perez, 45, were reportedly both arrested earlier this week for charges of solicitation to commit murder and criminal conspiracy. They are both in the Sacramento County Main jail and are ineligible for bail.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, earlier this year Manuel — who has been in custody since December 2012 for charges related to committing lewd acts with two minor females — hired someone to kill one of his two victims. Discussions between Manuel and this person reportedly included talks of payment in exchange for having his victim killed.
Manuel then reportedly contacted his sister, Natalia, to help him, and she provided a photo of the intended victim. Additionally, she helped facilitate the transfer of ownership of a vehicle with the intent that it be used as collateral in lieu of monetary payment.
On May 6, 2012, Natalia was reportedly arrested, and Manuel was add-booked, as he was already in custody.
Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating Judith (aka Christine) Engkabo. It is believed she has information that may be pertinent to this investigation. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Engkabo is asked to contact Detective Early Helfrich at 916-874-5194 or the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115.
