Registered Sex Offender Caught Violating, and not just the Bushes
GYSERVILLE – On 05/13 Mendocino County Sheriff’s Officers were dispatched to examine the report of an indecent exposure incident which had happened on 05/1o near the Eel River in Leggett, California.
Officers communicated with an adult female who claimed she had been at the river swimming with some adult aged friends and their pre-adolescent children when they witnessed a Caucasian male adult above them in the foliage.The adult female explained the male had his pants down with exposed genitals and appeared to be touching himself while observing the swimmers.
The swimmers were able to identify the male’s vehicle and supplied the license plate number to police. A more thorough examination of the vehicle affirmed that it was registered to Carlton Lawrence Draper a resident of Gyserville, CA.
Through intensive efforts, Deputies learned Draper was a registered sex offender and was currently on probation in Mendocino County for a similar offense. Draper was positively identified in a Photographic line-up by one of the swimmers.
A stop and arrest Be-On-The-Look-Out (BOLO) was distributed by police for Draper in association to the indecent exposure occurrence. Draper was confronted by officers from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office on 05/14and arrested for violating his probation.
According to the California sex offender registry, he also has convictions for oral copulation by force or fear and rape by force or fear. The suspect was consequently booked into the Mendocino County Jail where was is to be held in lieu of $15,000.00 bail on charges of indecent exposure and violation of probation. Draper was released after posting bond.
