Air Conditioner Thief Stopped Cold, Second Suspect on the Wind
THERMAL- Coachella Police pursued two burglars suspected of attempted air conditioning theft, apprehending a single suspect.
On May 29 at 2:12 PM, after witnessing two men attempting to disconnect and flee with an air conditioning unit, a neighbor called the Coachella Police to report the crime. The caller also reported that the suspects had burglarized the residence. Officers responded to the call describing the burglary and arrived within minutes to the scene, surrounding the residence in the 84500 block of Via Zahidi. The suspects, reported to be two Hispanic men, had fled on foot upon seeing the reporting party, but the officers quickly located one of the suspects.
That suspect, later identified as Eddie Ysiano, a 35-year-old resident of Coachella, attempted to elude the officers right on his heels, jumping fences and crossing a number of backyards. The Coachella Police Department called in assistance from the California Highway Patrol. Officers were quickly able to locate the suspect with the CHP helicopter. The arrest was made without further incident.
Officers continued the search for the second suspect, but were unable to locate him. Ysiano was transported to the Indio Jail where he was booked on charges of burglary, grand theft and felony vandalism. In addition Ysiano was charged with a felony no bail arrest warrant for violation of post-release community supervision. He has had several run-ins with the law, including a 2010 incident for domestic violence and a hostage situation, as reported in Valley News.
The Coachella Police Department is still seeking the second suspect and is hoping the public may have additional information about his identity and whereabouts. Anyone with additional information on the crime is encouraged to contact the Thermal Sheriff Station at 760-863-8990. Information can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP.
