Man Arrested After Shooting at Girlfriend and Children
MOJAVE — Kern County Sheriff’s deputies from the Boron and Mojave substations have arrested a 28-year-old Mojave man for shooting at his girlfriend and her two children.
On June 8, at about 1:35 p.m. deputies responded to the 15500 block of “L” Street in Mojave regarding a male subject, later identified as Tyrone Taylor, shooting at a vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, upon their arrival deputies contacted a female subject who told them her boyfriend had held her and two small children at gunpoint and threatened to kill her if she tried to leave.
“The suspect struck her several times in the face before she was able to flee with the children,” a police spokesperson told the media. “She then went to a friend’s residence and, as she and the children and the friend were leaving, the suspect fired a weapon toward them.”
Taylor allegedly hid the gun according to police in an abandoned residence and fled the area. Police said no one was injured from the gunfire.
Later in the evening, deputies located the weapon as well as Taylor at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident. An investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, Taylor was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited building or vehicle, willful cruelty to a child, false imprisonment, spousal abuse, and criminal threats.
His bail has been set at $600,000.
