Police Arrest Robbery Suspect in the “Button-Down Bandit” Case

The “button-down bandit” wanted in connection with at least eight bank robberies in the East Bay since March was arrested in West Oakland on Monday, according to the FBI.

James Quindale Page, 42, of Pittsburg, was arrested Monday morning as a result of the “button-down bandit” serial bank robber investigation. In 1998, Page, then known as “the Mighty Quinn,” held the WBA welterweight title, according to CSN Bay Area. He lost the title in 2001.

According to the FBI, Antioch and Walnut Creek police, along with FBI agents, arrested Page at about 8:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of 17th Street in Oakland.

Law enforcement personnel from the FBI, Walnut Creek, Antioch, Emeryville, Oakley, Pleasanton and Lafayette suspected that Page was responsible for eight bank robberies conducted since March 6, according to the FBI.

In each robbery, the robber wore various button-down, collared, long-sleeved shirts, leading investigators to dub the suspect the “button-down bandit.”
