$2 Million in Marijuana Apprehended in Elk Grove Investigation; 4 booked
ELK GROVE – Four male subjects were booked Tuesday, June 18th subsequent to investigators’ discovery of $2 million worth of marijuana plants growing at the the Stone Lakes preserve near Elk Grove. Those arrested include Anthony Uasiarez, 34, Ruben Gunzman, 18, both of Mexico and Jorge Vargas Garcia, 22, and Jose Estrada of Tulare County.
Over 7,000 marijuana plants, 100 pounds of marijuana, two 12-gauge shotguns and a handgun were apprehended by officials.
The results of the raid were published today in a press release by The Office of the Attorney General. Officials had began a May investigaton of many suspected members of the Sureno gang in Tulare County. The inquisition regarding the Sureno Gang led investigators to the state-owned Stone Lakes Preserve. On site, officials discovered “a large-scale marijuana grow” in addition to evidence of processing and packaging the drug.
The subjects were booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, cultivation of marijuana, conspiracy and being armed in commission of a felony.
