Short Pursuit in Vista Leads to Discovery of Stolen Car
A police pursuit in Vista ended in flames when a 13 year-old boy crashed into a fence.
The 13-year-old suspect was driving a vehicle before 1:30 a.m. Monday when a deputy noticed the vehicle’s headlights weren’t on. When the deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop, the boy ignored the deputy and fled.
The pursuit lasted for a few minutes before the boy crashed into the fence of a home on East Bobier Drive. The car’s engine then caught on fire and deputies were able to pull the boy from the vehicle as well as put out the fire.
The suspect was then taken to a local hospital and was later cleared of any medical concerns. He was then taken to Juvenile Hall.
It turns out that the vehicle was in fact stolen. The owner of the car, Monique Torres, said her vehicle was stolen last Friday night from the front of her home.
