Two Suspects Arrested for Arson at Yosemite Lakes Park
A man and a woman were arrested and put in jail Tuesday night in connection to a series of arson fires in the Yosemite Lakes Park area.
The couple, 46-year-old Allison Waterman and 40-year-old Kenneth Alan Jackson, was booked into the Madera County Jail on arson charges.
There have been approximately 20 vegetation fires in the park, including eight fires in the span of three days. The Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit of Cal Fire believed that at least some of the wildfires were the result of arson.
Several agencies assisted in the investigation and eventual arrest of the suspects, including the Madera County Sheriff’s Department, Madera County District Attorney’s Office, and the Yosemite Lakes Park security staff. Cal Fire Chief Nancy Koerperich also said that the Yosemite Lakes Park community’s support and assistance helped them to track down the two suspects.
Jackson and Waterman were detained at the scene of a half-acre fire on Revis Circle East in Yosemite Lakes Park.
Jackson is being charged with 31 counts of arson, resisting arrest, and attempted battery of a peace officer. Waterman is being charged on a single charge of arson.
