Cornucopia of Marijuana Goodies Found in Solvang Bust
The City of Solvang, a quaint, tourist-centric town of 5,000 peaceful souls whose primary export is Danish baked goods and cultural enchantment, where restaurants, shops, windmills, and tree-lined streets attract thousands of tourists every weekend, is apparently the home of some remarkably industrious marketing activity on the part of certain entrepreneurs specializing in the sale of illegal controlled substances.

Among those living among the local citizenry more attracted to fast, illegal cash than to the workaday retail and service offerings of this unique Santa Ynez Valley community, was Alan Pugliese, 53, who apparently made enough noise at his home that a neighbor summoned law enforcement to investigate the goings-on at the Pugliese home.
When, according to Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Kelly Hoover, Deputies arrived at the residence, they made contact with Pugliese who was in the company of two young men, both juveniles. At that time, Deputies determined that Pugliese was on active felony probation, and pursuant to those terms and conditions, a search was made of the residence.

The search was, in a word, fruitful. Inside the residence deputies found, as detailed in Hoover’s report to the media, “significant quantities of marijuana, hash oil, THC pills, THC laced chocolate bars, syringes with hash oil, THC infused bottled lemonade and hash oil candied taffy.” Among this veritable cornucopia of tasty offerings, many were packaged for sale with contents “commercially labeled.”
When SBSD Narcotics Detectives and units from the SBSD Special Investigations Bureau arrived on the scene, it was quickly concluded that Pugliese stood somewhat beyond the bounds of state law regarding the possession and use of medical marijuana. Pursuant to that determination, Pugliese was arrested on the scene and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for Possession of Marijuana for Sale, with his bail set at $20,000.
