SPD Arrests Suspect in Shooting Homicide
The Sacramento Police Department (SPD) has reportedly arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting at a Sacramento gas station that left one man dead, according to an official press release.
Kenneth Barnette, 27, was taken into custody on Wednesday, June 27, 2013, for the shooting death of Darryl Hill.
According to the SPD, on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 11:31 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 6600 block of Mack Road. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found the victim Hill, who had been fatally injured in a gas station parking lot, as well as two additional adult shooting victims who were treated and released from an area hospital. The adult victims, along with a one-year-old child who was not injured, had reportedly arrived at the gas station in the same vehicle prior to the shooting.
According to an SPD press release issued on June 15, the preliminary investigation found that the victims were in the parking lot of a gas station when they exchanged words with subjects in another vehicle. One suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple rounds at the victims and their vehicle, then the suspect vehicle fled the scene.
After interviewing several witnesses during the investigation, detectives reportedly gathered evidence that ultimately led to Barnette’s arrest. There are no other outstanding suspects in the case.
