Two Stockton Men Fight, Third Stockton Man Intervenes, One Stockton Man Dead
STOCKTON — What began as a heated verbal confrontation took a rather dark turn this past Saturday, leaving one man shot dead and an investigation ongoing.
The argument began just west of Herndon Place, escalating to the point of a third party stepping in, and concluded in an apartment complex parking lot off West Benjamin Holt Drive.
Shots were fired, drawing nearby police officers who’d been investigating reports of a disturbance in the area. Upon arrival, an unidentified 40-year-old male who’d been involved in the initial argument was discovered dead.
Stockton PD spokesman Joe Silva has said that while the investigation remains underway, its findings will be sent to the San Joaquin County district attorney upon conclusion “to determine if charges will be filed.” He went on to say that the shooting could have been justifiable or self-defense.
As of yet, there have been no arrests and all involved are cooperating with the investigation.
